Breeze through the doors of the Plantain Café and you’ll be greeted with smiles as warm as Cuban air. The husband-wife combo that recently opened the new Cuban café is serving traditional dishes inspired by family recipes. You can’t go to a Cuban restaurant without trying a Cubano ($8), and the pork in this one is roasted fresh every morning for three hours. And The Picadillo provides a mix of flavors from seasoned ground beef, olives, raisins and potatoes in a Creole sauce. A side of black beans and rice completes this very traditional and full-flavored dish. Keep tabs on this restaurant—their menu is expanding soon.
