Believe it or not, the road to Boston runs through Columbus. According to the Columbus Marathon Website, nearly 20 percent of the 2010 field qualified for the Boston Marathon – making the Nationwide Insurance Columbus Marathon one of the top marathons in the United States (per capita) to send qualifiers to Boston.
This year’s event will take place on Sunday, October 16 and will include both the marathon and a half marathon race. More than 17,000 runners, walkers and wheelchair racers are set to make their 26.2 or 13.1 mile goals this year. Thousands of spectators will also line the city streets from Bexley to downtown to German Village to The Ohio State University campus to cheer on the participants.
Celebrating its 32nd year, The Columbus Marathon has been noted as the place to do your 26.2 because it’s flat, fast and fun!
