Few people are able to survive 15 years in the service industry, replete with countless tours of kitchen, banquet, dish and managerial duty, and still wear their hearts on their sleeves. Even fewer people are able to serve their restaurant dreams each and every day to each and every guest that walks through their establishment’s doors. One such survivor of the restaurant trenches, and one who’s come through with shining colors, is Courtney Chapman, the General Manager of the comfortably glamorous neighborhood bistro, Elemental, located in the historic Olde Town East corner of town.
To know Chapman is to know approachable class. In his charming smile and laugh rides an invitation to celebrate some of the finer things in life: great food, true friends and fabulous wine. Though Chapman dedicates his heart and soul to Elemental on a daily basis, he gives all of the restaurant’s credit to his staff. “Without my amazing staff,” he says, “none of Elemental’s success would have happened. Our guests return because of them as much as anything else, and that’s why we are successful.”
Elemental exudes an inspiring air of palatable sophistication. The rotating artwork by local artists that Elemental showcases on a regular basis adds to their celebratory atmosphere. For as Chapman sees it, “There’s nothing more magical than when art, food, wine and company come together.” With a wine list that won an Award of Excellence from the Wine Spectator last year, a staff that’s a ton of fun to be around, sense-inspiring artwork and an eclectic menu that plays with the flavors of the seasons, Elemental may very well make Olde Town East Columbus’ newest place to feast its eyes and palates.
