To be a successful event designer, not only must you know what
you need, when you need it, when it's going to arrive. who's delivering
it and ultimately how much it will cost; but you also have to
coordinate it all while fashioning an ambiance that leaves a lasting
impression on the guests and the client. Whew!
Trace Kingham of Trace, Ltd has spent years perfecting this craft with
clients ranging from major corporations (Limited Brands, Inc) to nonprofit
organizations (Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio) to individuals
(Andrea & Brett Cambern). With a Theatre Degree from Ohio
State University in his back pocket, he first took a job with the Florida
Caribbean Cruise Association and began planning events for them.
He would later coordinate the logistics portion of major productions
for Limited Brands, but longed for the days when he could take on the
artistic aspect of an event. "I love the creative freedom I have now,"
says Kingham. "That was the #1 thing I was looking for when I start·
ed my own business."
Kingham loves what he does and it shows in his determination to
take each client to the next level. From major charity dinners to picnics
in the park, he treats each design and event with care and detail.
"Trying to find ways to 'wow' guests is a big driver for me," says
Kingham. "I love to think out of the box and go for something new
